Fire Alarm Panel

Fire Alarms & Emergency Lighting Maintenance

Main Features:

Service visits normally quarterly or sixmonthly (see frequency below).

All visits are by timed appointment, we will contact you at the agreed interval. They are usually arranged 3 days to a week in advance but longer periods of notice can be given if needed.

A certificate of Inspection is provided following every service visit.

Both the fire alarm systems and emergency lighting are normally tested at every visit.

Sounders are usually tested once per visit, usually at the beginning so as not to continually disturb staff.

Training of staff in the use of the fire alarm panel can be arranged during service visits at no extra charge.

Emergency and out of hours visits:

If the worst happens and your system needs immediate attention, we offer 24/7 cover for our service contract customers. If you want to avoid the cost of an out of hours call out, a routine visit can usually be arranged at quite short notice (1-3 days) during normal ffice hours.

Frequency of service visits:

Until the arrival of the 2002 revision of BS5839, and the Regulatory Reform Order which took effect in October 2006 the interval was very clear. It was quarterly for all Fire alarm systems (BS 5839) and sixmonthly for Emergency lighting (BS5266), the position on Emergency lighting has not changed, sixmonthly service visits are still required. Fire alarm servicing frequency is now as defined by the outcome of the Fire risk assessment which should have been carried out on all workplaces by October 2006. We are recommending that all premises where people sleep and/or 10 people work stay with quarterly, the rest to fall into the sixmonthly interval.

Weekly Visits:

It is a legal requirement that one part of the fire alarm system is activated once per week to test that the system is working, this should be logged in the fire log book. If you do not have anyone available for this task, it is a service that we offer.
